Help System App Replacement

IlluminaX

Lurker
Ok, this phone has an encrypted bootloader, cannot load or flash backup roms. I'm at the point where I'm debloating my phone and removed downloadprovider.apk. This is needed to load apps from Google Play. Any methods to reload this app? No apparent backup with Titanium. I am lead to believe I need a copy specific from a rom or another owner of this phone. Is it fixed by serial or msl perhaps? Also, loading it via another phone's copy results in an install error. Reasons why? Google Play installs just fine even after removal. Maybe there is a way to bypass this download method instead?

Thanks all.

I do not know. I assume you're on the rooted version (Android 4.3). From all the looking around I see the method is to do what you were trying to do. replace the DownloadProvicer.apk from another of the same rom. There was also mention of a DownloadProviderUI.apk. Looking at my phone which has the stupid OTA update on it I am stuck with now. Looking at the system apps installed, i see no mention of either of them unless they go by a different name in the latest version. So I do not know other from the poking around at other forums I did.

If you have another vibe same version of android on it, might grab all of DownloadProvider Apks, and Google Play Services, Reapply them. If still nothing, Something must be missing i am not sure about.

Good luck, I also don't know how much longer I will be providing insight on this phone, I am about to move away from Virgin Mobile which means this phone also. I already bought another phone and switched to a free provider. Just sorta playing with it until i decide to disconnect it completely.

Here is something interesting about this phone; I went and bought another onsale one at Target and I am lead to believe it is a slightly different make than what I bought before. This one loads up 'Sprint' and 'Kyocera' as the network of choice before Virgin Mobile; it also seems to have better connectivity issues. Other interesting things include the fact that it does not let me copy system files from the 'system/app' directory, and it does not let me paste app data there either. It also also claims not to be rooted when I have it rooted. Maybe I forgot to set Root Explorer to write mode or something.

TroyFoxxin>Thank you for your response anyway. I have a debug unit which I can use as a sandbox environment for dodgy apps before I load them on my main.
