[System Apps] can there be lighter replacements for system apps?

[kjhanjee]

I have a micromax a35 dual sim with android 2.3.5, I was wondering if I could get a lighter dialer app (dual sim), lighter launcher app and a app manager that could not only install/uninstall, move, close/start an app but also if uninstalled deletes all its cache, database and backups from the phone's internal memory( and maybe ask before deleting all this). Are there any replacements like this available on the internet? arty:

Hi kjhanjee, and welcome to AF

There are certainly replacements for the dialer or launcher in the Play Store. I'm running Holo Launcher, which is pretty light, but Zeam used to be recommended as a light launcher, FTL certainly sells itself as such (I've not used it myself), Lightning Launcher is different in its approach but certainly light, and I'm sure there are many others (there's a "big list of launchers" thread in this forum that might be worth a peek).

Don't know much about alternate dialers myself. For uninstallation I either use the system Applications menu or Titanium Backup (only available for rooted phones) - either way I erase data and then uninstall. Any files or folders it's place on the SD card you will have to clear up yourself though. There are apps that claim to do all of that, but I can't think of the names at this moment - hopefully someone else will have a suggestion there.
