I have an 8gb lg g stylo. Why cant i delete the system data from the miscellaneous? Its taking 5.20gb of storage. I can delete everthing else except that. Can someone please help?

Do you know what the data are? Don't be in a hurry to delete stuff otherwise, as there may be something vital there.

Part of the "system" category in the storage info is your operating system and system apps, if it helps you understand why you can't delete it.

"Misc" doesn't mean "not important". All it means is "not user installed apps, photos, videos or music" - everything else gets called miscellaneous.

16GB LG G Stylo here, you're not going to delete that without jumping through some serious hoops, and even if you could I don't see why you would. It's important system data that your phone can't run without.

Still not very smart to minus 5 from 8 as a equation when it comes to memory space, thats what those 2 post don't figure, hows this for a math question for those two 16 gb lg stylo owners,16 minus 12=
and thats all you have to work with as memory space, know do you thinks it cool to be in that position,im investigating a similer problem, only i have 2.1gb left from the miscellaneous ghost system data file problem, the only reason those2 supposed developers are defending it is because ther don't got a solution to it.

Sorry, but if by "those 2 supposed developers" you mean the other posters in this thread, neither of us is an Android developer, just forum members (and only one of us owns an LG). And you should replace the word "defending" by "explaining". And if you actually read the first post all we know is that the OP has an 8 GB device with 5 GB being described as "misc", so there's no maths to do there.

I find your post somewhat unclear, but I think you are trying to to say that there is too much space being used on your device, though whether you mean that the numbers your storage tool displays don't add up (different manufacturers tools behave differently, and are not always clear) or that you think the system should be designed to use less space I'm not sure - perhaps both. If you want a clear idea of how much space you have in each partition try the "storage truth" app described in the sticky thread in this forum. It won't break down what types of files are where, but will at least make the overall situation clear. You will almost certainly find that there is wasted space in the /system partition, because manufacturers tend to make that larger than is needed in case a later update requires more space. If your system storage tool claims to show space adding up to 16GB (or whatever the installed storage is in decimal units) then it's probably counting the unused space in that partition as part of the "misc".

But if you feel you are getting nowhere and just want a practical "solution" here is a simple one: back up everything important and factory reset, then look at the storage. Whatever it is then, that's the most you'll ever have on the device, and whatever "misc" is there is stuff the manufacturer considered important enough to place in system. Without rooting you can't do anything about this, and even if you could it won't give you more space in /data (or /sdcard, which share space on most devices) because it's on a different partition. So at that point if you are still unhappy you can complain to the manufacturer about how they have used the storage (though they won't listen, they never do) but from a practical point of view you'll have done what you can.

Thanks for the reply,it's not just for a developer to be more thorough about there response but it's just commen courtesy it dosent explain much to tell someone not to worry about a real concerning problem, anyway try Ccleaner apk and solid explorer to try and narrow down what cache is taking up your storage space, good luck.

You know your friend's Stylo that you bricked? Yeah ask him how much space he has, how much of that system data he can clear. It's not cache, its the system partition and CCleaner isn't going to do anything.

Hehehe...wise guy are we,I told you on the other post i fixed it,in fact i bought it from him, that's what I'm posting on right now,has 8gb with 4gb misc. system data was five but claened 1gb so far between now and my first post, like i said I'm very passionate about what I do.

In addition i never said Ccleaner would do anything for the consumption of the space taken, just help you identify the source of the problem, but for a real good storage readout apk you could try storage space.apk that might help you get a general direction on how to handle it better.best of luck!
