System storage - data/lost+found directory too big !?

Hi to all,

Please forgive me if I haven't find similar thread, but every one of them is about explaining how to free system storage and what is the problem.

I know what the problem is, but solution is what I need :)

Today I done full wipe and flashed neat rom. Everything went smooth. When I tried to restore apps with titanium I got message "system storage is full" :(

Under the file system root i got of 1.9gb space 211mb free.

after small research i got to this problem:

that folder contains 2706 files from various date(few of them are from today, since today i have done full wipe)

Can somebody tell me what are these files and how can I reduce them?

Did you restore any system files and settings with Titanium Backup and Restore after flashing NEAT ROM?

Yes, I restored few apps before trying to restore them all(63). But those are apps like titanium itself, total commander..small apps. I don't have any games and I doubt that the problem is in apps, since they have nothing in common with this dir.

But, I have flashed this mod few minutes after flashing ROM:

I mean System files from a previous Titanium Backup. I cannot comment on the LSD mod. You could try flashing NEAT ROM again after wiping and then only install app's and not System app's or settings and then monitor your storage before flashing the mod again.

what if I just delete that file?

browsing in it I can find some really old files from gmail, endomodno and apps that I used before. But still, I can find some files that are created today AFTER flashing ROM :/

I didn't touch anything..

flashed it again, but this time i have manually done the full wipe. This is the second time that Nukescript isn't working for me :/ Now is everything ok :)
system storage 319mb used from 1.9gb.

The fact that you had over a gig in lost+ found should be a concern.
This is where Linux puts files that it cannot read properly. Ie corrupt files.
Why it should be so large directly after a nuke is a real worry as a nuke formats /data. You may have flashed a bad download of neat, but as you've now installed it properly suggests to me you didn't attempt to download neat again.

If I were you, I would keep an eye on all lost+ found directories on your internal sd card. Eg /data, /system. If things start appearing in any of them it's because files failed to be written properly. By the way you cannot just use the files in there to copy back as they are nonsensical, being a conglomeration of bad nodes and inodes, so they cannot really be used to get data back unless you have some serious low level recovery utilities. A full format of your internal sd card may be the order of the day should lost+ found begin to grow exponentially again.

@caplja I think I have a problem similar to yours. I seem to have a ton of files in my Lost+Found directory too. I am constantly running out of Internal Memory space on my Galaxy Note (GT-N7000) and am constantly having to uninstall applications and create space as something is consuming my Internal Storage on an ongoing basis.

Further Info: I had this problem on fully stock Samsung ROM. So I had a friend of mine root the phone and install CyanogenMod Rom and the problems continued and even got worse.

1. What program did you use in the screenshot above that shows the size of the lost+found directory? (Mine lost+found directory has hundreds of directories with many files and sub folders within those.)

2. Do you (or anyone else here) know if it is it safe to just delete all folders and files within the lost+found directory?

Regards

David

@Hawker Is it safe to delete all files and sub directories in lost+found directory?

I got a sense from reading posts that just deleting the lost+found directory itself is not good, but would if be OK to delete all files and sub folders via File Manager that comes with CyangonMod, with superuser access.

to continue this thread, yes it is safe to delete the lost+found folder. also, it might worth checking the hidden thumbnail files in sdcard/DCIM folder. dont forget to clean your residual files, sd maid is good but you may also use others.
