System Update - Rooted GS4

I have a rooted Samsung Galaxy s4 on the Sprint network. I know absolutely nothing about roots and rooting (please don't bash me!), a guy at work did it so that I could tether my device since I have no Internet at home.

I got a notification tonight for a system update:

MK2 Android System Update

This software update includes new enhancements and improvements for your Samsung Galaxy S4. You will be unable to use your device or make emergency calls for the duration of the install, which is expected to take several minutes.

The update is 26.1 MB, if that matters.

So my question... if I install this update, will it unroot my phone? Or will something bad happen?

I think that the update will not even start because your phone is rooted and"modified"

You will get an error saying cannot update as device has been modified. OTA updates do not work on rooted phones. To update the phone you or your friend will need to find the latest rom and Flash it using odin. I suggest you talk to him about it. It's not really a problem, just a different ( and in my view more reliable) way of doing an update.
