T-Mobile 4g speeds

LTE is generally going to have much faster upload speeds. For download, lte will probably be faster but it's close. Lte will use up more battery though. It all depends on how many people are on the tower.

Newer phones with lte do not use up more battery...IF your signal is good, any signal problems though and it will spend more time searching for signal and that is never good for the battery.

Guy in Vegas with the Nexus 4 said on LTE (which he has a great strong signal) says he gets better battery then he did before.
 
LTE battery life is now within like 4% or so of HSPA with comparable conditions and getting better every generation of radios & processors
