Root [T-Mobile] 4g to 3g

After installing Paranoid Android 3.15-L13N ROM (4.2.2 Jellybean) on Galaxy S3 SGH-T999 it shows 3G instead of 4G. Used Speedtest and got top speed of 23 mps. On T-Mobile Rom I got 25 mps. Not a big deal but was suprized to see 3rd generation when I know 4g is better. Anyone know why this happened? I like Paranoid Android much better except for this glitch.

With T-Mo in the US (their new LTE not withstanding), you're really talking abut the same thing since our 4G is HSDPA- really it's just faster 3G, not a different system like LTE.

Go with the network speed test!

Just as an additional thought, you could always use something like the UOT Kitchen to modify the icons used for the signal (and a bunch of other stuff) if it really bothers you- you just pick the changes you want to apply & it "cooks" you up a zip file you apply via your custom recovery:

As usual, just make sure you do a backup of the current pre-change ROM in case something goes wonky.
