Root [T-Mobile] Basic Rooting Questions

Lurker
Alright, so I finally got the Samsung Galaxy S 3 T-999 from T-mobile last Friday and could not help but want to customise it to my liking. I got the courage to root my phone today and had some basic questions. What will I basically be able to do now that I have rooted my phone. I followed the instructions from High-on-Android from Youtube and used Odin to run Clockworkmod and then run CWM-SuperSU.v0.87 from my internal memory. So far after reading alot of posts I downloaded Titanium Backup and Busy Box Free (it appears to be an installer and I did normal install). What can I do now. My first goal was to back up my stock settings and ROM and pretty much everything before I make any changes in case I need to go back or un-root my phone to send it back for the warranty. How would I do this?

Secondly when I tapped Software Update, it said my device had been modified (no surprise) and I could not get updates. Can I still get updates even with my root on? How do I re-enable them?

Next, what exactly is Super User, Busy Box, and Clockworkmod?

Finally, my main goal to root was to customise the themes, Icons, and names (I know not really crafty as over-clocking and installing new ROMS/Kernels). How can I access system files to do this. One of my apps set my wallpaper to a really nice picture but doesn't let me download it, anyone know where it is saved?

Thanks guys, this was basically alot of questions my friends and I had and I wanted to respond to them quick so I just posted it all in one thread. Go Android!!!

These are not basic questions and things that should be known before rooting your device. It is a huge risk not having at least a basic knowledge of what something like CWM is. it is difficult to brick a phone nowadays, but be sure you read and know how to fix issues before you dive in.

Since you modified your device (rooted) and installed a custom recovery (CWM), you should try to update via carriers. It doesn't work. Most phones block the update from happening now, but if you managed to try to apply it, you could brick your phone.

Please see our root thread for more detailed information on what it is, what it does, and why to do it.

I would recommend reading much more about the process. Many of your questions require in depth answers that are in several places.
