Root T-mobile branded rooting process

I'm looking to root my desire HD. It's currently on the latest broken T-mobile build 1.84.

I'm toying with the idea of going over to android revolution mod. Can you guys in the know confirm I've got the process right?

1. Make goldcard
2. Downgrade to a 1.32 build
3. Root
4. Install clockwork etc..
5. Flash my new rom of choice.

If I want to go back to stock
6. Run the t-mobile 1.72 RUU.

Does that all sound right?

Thanks :)

I recently did this process (as I had a branded Orange UK mobile) - the above is all correct... as part of the root process, you'll also need to get Radio S-Off... not difficult at all, as there's a one click program that does it for you.

The thing that took me a long time was the goldcard part... once I'd sorted that, the root process was painless! :D

Thanks DURX, it's good to know I'm on the right lines.

What is the s-off app you suggest?

:)

No probs Gus - here's a link to the Radio S-Off tool [TOOL][VIDEO] One click Radio S-OFF, SimUnlock (Easy Root & S-OFF Guide) - xda-developers On that same page there's also a link to the guy's other tool (for ENG S-Off).

I'd read as much as possible before going for it on the rooting front... only just done it myself for the first time last weekend... worth it though!! :)

No problemo mate... When I went for it, I had porblems making a goldcard - if you need any help, give me a shout!!

I'm chuffed at how easy the goldcard turned out, it worked first time :)

Not running Android Revolution, all seems to be well, just need to flash a new radio and I should be set.
