T-mobile move

Lurker
Hi all. Since i couldn't find a T-Mobile Move thread I decided to start a new one. Here's what Im having troubles with...

1.I just got a T-mobile MOVE and wanted to install some games and i encountered a problem with certain games (downloaded a whole lot of them with torrent). Some of them aren't just *.apk files but they have a cache folder as well usually with a rar file and i cant seem to get those games to work (when i try the apk file it installs but when launched error occures since additional files are required - i guess the ones that are rar-ed but i dont know how to set my phone to recognize those files in the archive).. any ideas?

2.I cannot change the notification ringtone with a tone from the sd card (i have the option of the pre-set tones but not the ones i copied on the memory card). I tried making a "notifications" folder in the sd card as well as in the existing media/audio folder but my tones (regular mp3 tones) still dont get recognized. Any ideas? By the way i can make em my ringtones just not notifications (sms, e-mail etc) tone.

3.Whenever i connect my phone to the pc i get qualcomm hsusb device notification but there's always some error with the driver insallation. Do i need the drivers? - cause i can access the sd card just fine. Oh and this little thing... when i connect my SE w395 i get a phone card and a phone in My Computer, but with the Move its only the card... meaning i cannot access the phone and see whats inthere (as pics, tones, stuff)...

4.Since this is my first phone I dont really know the types of internet I got gprs, wi-fi, hdspa... thats all latin to me. Whats the fastest one and how to make the transition from 1 to another? And when I scan for wi-fi devices i get some connections-some password protected others not and some1 told me that if i connect to the nonprotected ones i could use thier internet and not have to pay for it. Is that true?

5.Im not a big fan of video call but i was curious to know if i could to that with this phone

Sure i will come across some more questions as the time goes by (have it just for a few days now) but imma rap things up for the time being...

Any help would be grately appreciated.
Cheers from Macedonia!

hey,
I have the same phone, bough yesterday and I came upon some of your issues:

2. I copied on the phone some .mp3's in a folder named "ringtones" - created by me in Media>Music and for the incoming call ringtones the new copied songs were automatically added to the existing ringtones list.

3. Yes, I have installed the driver you are talking about, I found a .pdf file on ALCATEL ONE TOUCH - Products - Smartphones - One Touch 908 with instructions and all the drivers and other software

4. sure, if you have access to a non password protected wi-fi network you can connect and you have free internet, and I think this is the fastest way to browse, and the cheapest as it is free

5. no, it does not have a second video camera for videocalls
you can check all the specs at Alcatel OT-908 - Full phone specifications

and I do have a question on my own: the wallpapers 240x320 are streched on my 5 desktops homescreen. does someone know the correct resolution for the wallpaper to fit without it being streched or how to "disable" the resizeing of the image?

Cheers

LE: for the wallpaper issue, I figured that out with the help of other post, just add images with 480x320 and for 3 desktops it does not strech

Tnx for the links and tips. However for the sms/email tone i have created a "Ringtones" folder in my sd card, in my "Media" folder, in Media/Audio as well as in media/music folders but still no luck with the notification tone (they are detected just fine as a ringtone but not as a notification tone)

Me again :). Am I the only one having problems with the T-Mob Move or am I at the wrong forum section?
Here's whats bugging me this time. Whenever my phone is moved slightly harder in any direction it stops ringing and just vibrates (if the vibrating option is turned on). It causes me to miss some calls while walking since the force of my leg moving makes the phone stop ringing almost immediately and just continues to vibrate, but sometimes thats not enough for me to be aware that some1's calling me. Is that what its supose to do or is it some glitch?

Another thing: Whenever my phone is turned upside down it stops ringing and just vibrates. It can be a problem for me for example when I got my phone in my jacket and I take the jacket off and put it somewhere horizontally. I should wonder whether my phone (inside the jacket) is turned the right side up or not, and weather I'd miss some calls cause of it (obviously i wont hear the phone ringing).

I'd appreciate any help I get. Tnx!
