Help T-Mobile One S Gorilla Glass?

lexluthor

Android Expert
Does the HTC One S, in particular, the T-Mobile version have Gorilla Glass?

Should I not worry too much about getting a screen protector?

Yes, I know Gorilla Glass can scratch, but it's much harder to do so and may not be worth going with a screen protector if it does indeed have Gorilla Glass.

EDIT:
At least according to the wikipedia page here, it does
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/HTC_One_S

I'll probably not bother with screen protectors.

I'd recommend getting a screen protector fast.

My screen shattered the second day I had it after a short (under 1 foot) drop that I would never have expected to harm it.

Really saw that, but I don't think a screen protector would h ave helped that.

A case certainly could have.

One week in my wifes HOS screen cracked bad? What should I do? Call HTC or go to TMobile or something else?

TMobile wants $135 to fix it. HTC hasn't gotten back to me yet. If you go to Apple with a shattered iPhone they charge $10 to fix it. You would think other manufacturers would want to be competitive?

This is false. If you have a shattered back glass it's $29 to fix. If it's a 3G or 3GS and your screen is shattered it's $99 to fix. If you go in with a shattered screen on an iPhone 4 it's $149 and they replace the whole phone, not just the display, and if it's a 4S it's $199.

My TMobile phone was stolen in Spain, so I bought this HTC One S in black from Vodafone Spain. Besides the black coating rubbing off and chipping off all around the edges and USB port revealing the aluminum, and the red anodize coating of camera ring also rubbing off, last week when the phone slipped out of my messenger bag's unsecured front flap (hip level) and hit the floor, its glass cracked into hundreds of pieces like a car wind-shield! I was so pissed off and stunned - "Gorilla Glass" should be renamed "China Doll Glass". Vodafone Spain and HTC both deny warranty coverage quoting "rough handling". Whose phone doesn't slip and drop once in a while?! Not like I tossed it from 2nd floor or sat or stepped on it!

Buyer beware! It is really a sweet pretty phone, light, fast with a great camera and manufacture apps. Do get a handset protection plan, or don't buy it! (I was not a contract client that didn't qualify for Vodafone Spain's monthly protection plan)

Thanks ashykat for the correction, someone told me wrong.

HTC charged me $200 for the repair. They've had it 5 days and it isn't done yet.

I will have an otterbox coming too.

I strongly advise getting the case AND the insurance. Mine is 40 days old and the screen cracked after a light impact with a coffee cup (Diztronic case). At this point I may need to get by with tape until the new screens are in stock. Oh and I really doubt it's gorilla glass.
