Root [T-Mobile] Temp root vs. perm root?

slyvella

Lurker
I own the T-Mobile MyTouch 4G and was able to temp root the phone. Root would disappear when the phone was rebooted. This was great for certain apps that were problematic on rooted phones.

I just ordered a Galaxy S3. As I read through the forums I'm beginning to realize that rooting is going to be a much bigger production, and I don't see any equivalent options for temproot. Has anyone heard of anything? Because life was easy on the last phone I'm not very savvy.

Here's the info on the MyTouch: VISIONary (so named because it was originally an application designed for the T-Mobile G2 / HTC Vision) is an application you install on your device that allows you to Temproot or optionally Permroot your device, using the 'rageagainstthecage' exploit.

I don't know of any temporary root method. What you had was probably for Froyo and Gingerbred. The S3 comes shipped with ICS a whole different ballpark. Just did a search for VISIONary>> Note: This application is no longer being updated and is only recommended for use on Froyo builds.
