T-Mobile version has newer software, maybe update soon to MetroPCS version?

Sigh... the troubles us early adopters go through. I'm using the Metro version on my TMobile line but I half wish I'd have held out til the TMobile version came out. Oh well!

Interesting note watching the vid again just now, the Metro one uses build Z981V1.0.0B08 but the TMobile one says it's on build TMO_Z981V1.0.0B04 which almost looks like it's an earlier build number, even though the security patch date is later. Wonder what the difference in baseband versions means for us, probably never know though unless we ever find a way to extract and/or flash different radios. Kernel versions are slightly different too, 3.10.84-perf-g455640f vs 3.10.84-perf-ge786b5d-00547-g5cf9f38.

Yeah same. Been buying my own phones up front for about eight years now.
I find it's best to own a phone than rent it! Besides, I got a decent plan with MPCS anyway, no bandwidth caps I only pay $50 a month (got my first phone, a ZTE Zmax two years back when they had a promo offer for that price and I never dropped them).

I'm on the same promo. It's a great deal!

I was looking to upgrade from my LG Stylo.. I can wait for root for the t-mobile version. If it ever becomes available but I really want a new phone..

We need root first but metro variants of the Stylo were flashed with the tmo variant software (because tmo got marshmallow and metro Stylo owners were left out in the cold). Metro and tmo is the same network tmo users are just prioritized higher. But yes it would work without issue. No radio flashing nothing

That was only an issue before when you had a metro CDMA version and tmo was still GSM. Now they are the same GSM network.

Me 3 BUT..... it's feast or famine @ no BYOD allowed.
I hope Black Friday bails us out.

Seems the T-Mobile update was pulled. I just activated a T-Mobile z981 with a T-Mobile sim, still on B04, no system updates available. I can't say I've had any major issues to deal with so far, but i still wish my N5 didn't break. Life's just simpler with an unlockable bootloader and fastboot.
