Root T-Mod root Complete-

navh

Newbie
Ok first of thanks to Staggers for giving me the drive to do the root and to SUroot for all the valuable info on this forum and everyone else!

so i did the T-mod root on my desire which was branded to Telstra. Went ok, well i got it rooted in the end! but i did encounter some problems that i think some guys might be able to help out others with a bit of information.

the one part that confused me with the instructions was with G-parted. in the instructions it says to turn of pc, connect phone, reboot from cd. nothing happened. so i done some research and found that some had not connected the phone until completing the last step before G-parted launched. then the sd card was detected. G-parted really stumped me. i dont think i done it right as when i finally got the phone rooted and started backing up i ran out of memory. i then used rom manager which wiped EVERYTHING but made the partion. unfortunately lost the titanium backup as i only then installed the rom and radio on the card and booted!

Unrevoked3 then would not work until i tried a different USB port using Method 2 in rooting section.

other then those things, it went quite well, besides losing all stuff of my sd card luck i backed up though! If some one could do an exact method (maybe utube) of how to do Gparted i think this would help.

Now that i have crossed this bridge, i want to try out gingervillian or oxygen but cant find a good step by step guide. (i like step by steps!!)

So once again thanks to this forum, i successfully rooted my desire!!

Join xda developers most devs have install instructions in there rom posts. But really its a case of making a titanium backup. Make a nandroid backup. Put gingervillain on root of ure sd card boot into recovery wipe factory reset. Wipe cache. Go into advanced wipe dalvik. And then install .zip from sd card. Done. Then u can restore apps with titanium.

Factory reset /wipe of data includes cache and and dalvik anyway.

There is step by step in the rooting faq. The only thing is you have to reference other parts of the faq for some steps. The reason I wrote it like that is to encourage reading if the faq.
