T989 will not charge.

Got a interesting issue. My T989 will not charge. Let me explain.

A few months ago the phone on occasion wouldn't properly connect to my PC, it said unknown device.
Didn't think much of it.

Fast forward to last month. My started to refuse to charge. I though OK, dirty contacts on the microUSB, so I cleaned them. Last Tuesday it absolutely wouldn't charge. I though loose MicroUSB port. No big deal, I know how to fix phones. Ordered a new MicroUSB port. Got it yesterday. I took the phone apart, disconnected all the ribbon cables and I half expected the microUSB port to be loose or drop out. It was very tightly soldered to the board nothing was/is loose about it.

I am at a loss. WTF could it be? Could the port be going bad from God knows how may inserts and removals? Is the board going bad?

Any ideas?

While it's possible the contacts could be worn, I doubt it would simply stop working. It would be more likely to have intermittent charging. Could it possibly be a bad cable or a bad battery?

I have 2 batteries that charge perfectly with a universal battery charger and I have 18 microUSB cables that I have collected over the years. I just bought a new one last week and no dice. The ONLY time it will charge is when I put pressure on the cable and even then it is only at most getting 210mA-400mA. The phone won't charge on anything less then 7000mA, I have several ac adapters, 2 OEM Samsung, 2 apple and one after market. All put out 900mA-1240mA. I am starting to think it may be the port. I installed the same application on my wife's phone as well as my son's phone and both are reporting that they are getting a steady 1180mA when charging.
