Tab 10.1 Pricing

I've been flirting with the idea of a tablet for months but recently I decided to start searching for what I wanted and after lots of research I've landed on the Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1. It's the perfect size, polished, fast, etc. However, it's not the cheapest tablet on the market and I'm on an extremely tight budget so finding this for as cheap as possible is a must for me.

I've found the GT 10.1 16GB White (which is what I want) online around the $450 price range but I was thinking that with all the new generations coming out soon and the recently announced Galaxy Tab 2, the prices should hopefully be dropping in the coming months.

First, should I expect the price to be dropping on the 10.1 reasonably soon, and if so does anyone have a clue about what a possible range of adjusted prices would be once they drop?

Secondly, if the price will not drop in the foreseeable future, should I consider the refurbished GT market? I've had no experience with refurbished electronics and would like to know if any of you have had any experience or knowledge of refurbished tablets. I just want to make sure that I could expect them to be fast and reliable just as if I had bought them new :)

Thanks in advance for all the help!

Look at the used market. They're going to be cheaper there than refurbs.

That's true, I'm just slightly worried about doing used for such an expensive piece of tech because it's hard to judge by pictures and a simple text description how the owner really treated it. I'll definitely look into it though!

EDIT: After doing some searching I found it for as low as $330 used on eBay in what looks to be excellent condition. I will be keeping a close eye on the used market now!

Thanks I had forgotten to check locally like you mentioned. Nothing on eBay classified for my area but I'll keep checking that and Craigslist.

That's what I'm hoping as well, to find some big box retailer whose running a sale on the Tab 10.1's to make room for newer tablets in their inventory. I'll check it out for sure.

Purchasing local from CL is the ideal IMO. Tablets lose a ton of value just when you get them home. You can save $100-200 just by buying used.

No kidding. There weren't many listed in the city I live but I changed CL to Louisville (just down the road) and there were TONS listed in just the last few days! :)

Oh, man, I might have to bite on that Woot deal.

EDIT: I didn't get it. I got busy w/work and it was too late to buy. Oh, well. I'll have to wait.

I bought mine at HH Gregg also on sale for $399. I love it. It's rooted and running ICS. I also bought the Samsung 10.1 Book Cover Case for it. The best $50 I ever spent, and believe it or not, I got it on sale at Toys 'R' Us for $49.99, the regular price is $59.99. Best case for a tablet I have owned also.

Picked up a refurb just before Black Friday, from some reputable eBay seller for what ended up being $279.
Picked up an extremely slim case for it ("Viper" I think?).
Too bad my SGT has developed that damn oil slick issue over time (now covering 5.5" x 2"), but I still love it!

Went into my local store today and saw that they had a few of the 16gb version in gray on clearance for $314.98. Went ahead and picked one up for the g/f.

Don't think you can beat that price for a new one.

(BTW, they do not carry the 32gb version or the white color.)

I've been talking to the OP about buying my 16 GB Tab. He's not interested in buying a tablet right now is what he tells me. He's gonna wait until the next gen devices hit the market.
