Tab 2 now won't connect to home wifi despite strong signal

Today I made the momentous move from (Time Warner) Cable TV to DirecTV. The installer was trying to explain to me how the Genie system he put in uses wifi to communicate with the other units and with DirecTV.

My two android devices are an HTC One V phone and and Samsung Tab 2.0 (7"). The tablet has Android version 4.1.1.

I have Wifi Analytics on both devices and they both report a very strong wifi signal as usual in the house. The phone is connected and is problem free. But for the past 90 minutes the tablet won't connect and in settings I get the report of "Signal strength: very strong" but get the message "Network disabled. Poor connection."

The usual suggestions are to toggle Airplane Mode on and then off and to turn the tablet off completely. I have done both several times without any luck.

I wonder if anyone has an answer as to how to get the tablet reconnected and further wonder whether the DirecTV installation is to blame for this problem.

On your tab, instead of trying to connect to your network click "forget" and let the tab scan again for networks. When it finds yours enter your key.

If that doesn't work let us know.

I had tried that earlier and it didn't work. I gave it another shot and same result. I got the message again saying "Network disabled: poor connection."
This is ever so frustrating since the signal itself is very strong.
Thanks for your idea though.

Time to rejoice.
Although I had rebooted the tablet a few times and toggled into and out of airplane mode the thing I hadn't tried (thank you Google) is to turn off the router and wait a minute.
After doing that the tablet had little difficulty connecting.
Always nice to have a problem cease to be one.

Sometimes it's the easiest answers that most elude us.
The other day DirecTV stopped working here just a few days after we installed it.
Called tech help etc. and nothing.
Turned out (fortunately discovered before tech arrived to laugh at us) that wife had flipped the switch that controlled the outlet that the satellite system uses for power. Doh!
"Serenity now. Serenity now."

I set up a new router awhile ago and couldn't get my desktop to connect to it to set it up. I tried everything unplugs reboots drivers ect. It wasn't until I spoke to a second tech who asked if the desktop was plugged into the router that realized my error. I guess that's why they say two heads are better than one.
