Tab doesnt like low storage

funkylogik

share the love peeps ;)
Does anyone else's n7 get all laggy when it hits like 1gb free storage?
I thought the "trim" in 4.2 was supposed to address this?
Anyone understand why it happens.. like how can storage affect performance?
Cheers :)

IDK why, but it seems like all android devices seem to lag a little when the ROM starts getting full.

I noticed the lag on my galaxy players too. When they got to within a GB of memory left they all started to get slow and unresponsive.

My phone (gs3) has been nearly full and i didnt even notice untill i got the low storage warning.
On the n7, i noticed it getting painfully slow, deleted a 1.5gb movie and it was back to normal.
Im just wondering why it would need all that free storage  app cache maybe?

The Nexus 7 didn't get trim support until 4.3, and why I finally made the jump to 4.3.

I was able to make a nandroid of my 4.2.2 rooted stock on a thumb drive in TWRP, flashed the stock 4.3 image and rooted it NRT, then restored the nandroid in TWRP bypassing the system and boot partitions.

All my apps and icons went back to the way it was, system is running 4.3 and it has been stable as all hell.

Except flash. The flash sucks and FireFox is the most stable but will still crash out when trying to stream Prime movies for an extended period of time.

I cant wait until everyone gets up to speed with HTML5 but DRM is still an issue as its actively being developed.
