Help Tablet as a phone?

aloerose

Lurker
I have just received my straight talk AT&T Micro SIM card. I am interested in purchasing an unlocked tablet that I am able to use as a phone. Through some research, it is suggested that the Tab 2 can do this. Can anyone confirm? My second question.. are there any specific requirements I need to know about. I am looking at several different "calling" or "phone" tablets, all of which are unlocked, support a SIM card and 2G spectrum GSM: 850/900/1800/1900
Will this work? I am really hopeful. I have included a few of the tablets I am looking at.
Thanks in advance!!

They don't have to be unlocked. As long as you're going to stay with the AT&T SIM (and not convert to the TMobile SIM later), save yourself the money and buy one locked to AT&T.

Thank you for your reply! This will be my primary phone, as I make calls infrequently, and enjoy the tablet perks. So just to be sure, I will be able to do this? I really appreciate your help!
