Help Tablet Falls Asleep After 10 Seconds

I've changed the display settings to sleep after 30 minutes, which is the maximum time I can set. However, the lock screen fades out to black after just 10 seconds and I am having a real difficulty in resuscitating it. I have to push a pin in top of the tablet to reboot it. If I slide the padlock, I get to the desktop and I get about 30 seconds of operation before the tablet sleeps again and needs a reboot.

That is a function of the lockscreen. Not the sleep timer, maybe. Try turning lockscreen off.

Go to settings>storage>apps>All> menu> reset app preferences> reset apps.
Reboot /restart device.
