Hello guys

Well its that time again and I was wanting to get a tablet for my 5yr old, the thing is that as the android tablet market is still relativly new im becoming a little bewildered, so far the the only experiance i have had is with one the mother in law bought from a sunday news paper, i think she paid

im thinking the archos70, i know it doesnt have the market but it can be added via an apk appantly, cheapest price i saw was

I must admit that iam in a similar situation trying to work out which tablets to get for my 2 daughters 5 and 3. I have been holding out for the Advent Vega but has it seems to keep getting put back iam starting to worry that it either be delayed until next year or suffer the major problems that the Folio has. This has made me start to look for a backup plan because time is getting shorter and Santa will need to find something rather quick.

The Archos does not look a bad device from the video and will certainly need considering. Am I right I'm thinking the one from Amazon for

oh dear hope i didnt balls up. i thought they were the same unit. gotta go check now

DOH i did oreder the 7 and not the 70, what a plum, ill be sending it back unopened, seemed like a pretty good deal, seems the 70 is twice the price of the 7

archos 7 andriod 1.6
archos 70 android 2.2

that for me is the biggest factor. i want the unit to run skype and flash vids, not gonna get that with the 7

+1 for the archos 70 (not to be confused with the archos 7)
I have been patiently watching the reviews and forums and although there are cheaper ones out there this is the highest quality model for under $300
The new archos units (70/101) have a capacitive touch screen. All of the others in this $$$ range have a resistive touch screen (resistive makes it feel laggy, but actually you just have to press the screen harder or us a stylus to get it to work correctly)

I think the archos 70 fits my needs exactly, capacitive touch screen is a must as is hdmi out. Two great features imo. The lack of androidmarket was an issue but as I understand it you can download the market.app from acrhos own appstore, so isnt really any problem at all.

Ther price is real good for the features and will allow a few years of use before coming completly useless.

I will hunt one of these units out asap, I think this is the 7" tablet to get

I have had the A70 since last Friday.

Opened the box
Charged it
Turned it on and ran the Update to 2.2
Installed market apk (2 minutes)
Installed LauncherPro (must have)
Loaded 12 movies and 100 songs
Installed 25+ apps
Streamed The Social Network today at work using flash.
Reading 2 books currently
Google books, Kindle, Aldiko work perfectly
Fring works well (video)

For $267 I could not be happier.
My kids fight over who gets to use it.

Actually fits in pants pocket (not hipster jeans)
