Tablet help !!!

jackal43

Newbie
have just got a tablet but cannot access the internet.
My wifi router works fine with my laptop, but when I go into tablet - settings - wi fi networks, my router is shown ( wpa/wpa2 psk ), I enter password, scanning occurs then disconnected appears.

Welcome to Android Forums. :)

You can check in with your tablet specific forum to see if they have any advice.

A couple thoughts that may be happening on the router end though. Are you using mac address filtering and maybe need to add your tablet to the list. Is it possible that the DHCP server is out of addresses? One final thought it that maybe your router is using static IP addresses.

If you have any more information, let us know and good luck with your current problem.

Hello and welcome to Android Forums. One other thing you might try beyond pupkact's kind suggestions.. you might try connecting your tablet to another router.
Try an open network such as a Starbucks or something similar. If you can successfully connect you will know it's not your tablet and it's a setting in your router.

Hello,

Welcome aboard. I hope you can find some solution to your problem. Best of luck. :)

Thanks for all the replies - head getting sore from hitting the wall. Sorry to say, as a true technoprat, some of the kind replies went well over my head.
Will try another wifi router when I get the chance.

I would definately try olbriar' suggestion first as this will eliminate your tablet as that failure point. If some of my thoughts went over your head, let me know. I can try to simplify them:D. I have worked with many home routers so I know my way around them and could probably walk you through the steps to check yours or point you to good tutorials.

Thanks very much guys for your help / suggestions.
I have finally succeeded - more by luck than good management.
I was confused by the fact that my isp gave me a username & password which I put into my router, when I joined them.
I also have a username & a password to access my router from my laptop.
I was using the first password, without success.
My single braincell finally clicked in, I tried the 2nd password & it worked.

Thanks all,

Jack ( technoprat )
