Tablet Problem

I purchased a new android tablet and was instructed to let it charge after opening, the tablet has been on charge for 6 hours and only shows a 99% battery life, however, if the tablet is unplugged it will shut off and if I try to turn it on it will make it to the logo screen and then go blank. Can someone help please?

If unmounting and remounting battery not help there is possible of serious hardware issue - in battery or in tablet itself. Return it back to device supplier. 99% can be normal behaviour but tablet doesn't have right to turn itself off when you unplug it from supply power.
