Help Tablet with blank screen

vhs

Lurker
Hi there,
I have an A1Cs Fusion 5 tablet (out of warranty) that has recently decided it doesn't want to switch on. There has been no physical damage to the unit...nor have I tried to root it or anything similar...it just one day went belly up. When I plug in the wall charger, the red light comes on to indicate that it is charging but when I press the power button, all I get is a dark screen with faint vertical lines across it and the charging light stays red. I tried it with a USB to my PC but no life and the PC doesn't register it. I tried holding down the power and volume up/down buttons for about a minute but nothing happened.
I opened up the tablet to check the connections inside but nothing seems to be loose. I reconnected all the ribbon cables anyway, just incase.
Do I need to replace the LCD unit on this, or is there something else that I can try?
Any help with this would be most appreciated.
Thanks in advance.

From what I can see, recovery for your device is done by holding the power button and volume up button, not both volume buttons. But, this usually has to be done from a powered off state. I'm just guessing here, but try this. Unplug the USB cable. Press and hold the power button only for upwards of 30 seconds. See if you can see a slight screen flicker or something to indicate the power state has changed. Then wait a minute. Now try holding the volume up and power buttons.

If that doesn't work you might try getting into fastboot by holding the power button for a few seconds and then pressing the volume down button.

If nothing is getting any response, you might have a hardware failure. These things are pretty cheap so i doubt you're going to find spare parts that would make it worth fixing. I think these tablets are considered disposable.
