On the advice of a friend, I tried holding the power button for 60 seconds. Thew screen lit up and flashed piture of a battery, twice seemingly 1/3 charged. then it went black. It should have been nearly fully charged. So I plugged it in to the computer. Computer did not recognize it. Tried holding the button two more times. Same result except the second battery flash in each cycle had a lighting bolt in it as if it was not being charged. I gave up and set it down, still plugged in. After about 10-15 minutes the screen lit up with the normal start up screen, announcing that it was 91% charged.
Now it seems to work normally.
Could it be that it knew I was shopping for its replacement?
