Take photo, share with Gmail

Sounds elementary, but it's not. Me and my wife have a number of devices running Android 4.2.2. After taking a photo with the Camera app, we can navigate to the Gallery. If the gallery is in single-photo mode, then tapping on the "share" < brings up a list of programs which does not inlude Gmail.

On the other hand, if the Gallery displays an entire Album of multiple photos, then we can long-press on a photo, then < and the list of programs does include Gmail.

Inaddition, the navigation from Camera to Gallery is rather clumsy, because the menu on top disappears if you are not fast enough, and it only comes back through guesswork and prayers.

Is there an application which smoothly integrates the taking of pictures with sending by Gmail? Side question: has this been fixed in kit kat?

Gallery apps and camera apps differ from manufacturer to manufacturer. For instance, the S5 and HTC One M8 both runs Kitkat but has different gallery apps. What specific device are we talking about?

Edit:

Just checked on the Samsung Gallery app on Android 4.3, that selecting a single picture still has the share via Gmail option.

Samsung. S4 and Tab 3 8" and Ace Lte. All behave the same way. There is also a Nexus 7 in the house, haven't tried with it.
