Tango for Android Vs. FaceTime

Which one is better? Do they perform equally?

I know Tango allows 3G and 4G usage as well as WiFi, but I have used FaceTime before on my own wifi network and it was awesome. No complaints about, no video problems no audio lag.

Does Tango perform that well over WiFi?

I heard before that it has audio problems, and when I saw the iPhone 4 using Tango on a YouTube video, it was flawless. When I saw Android use it, there was an echo. I heard what the person that was showing the app on camera said twice. Does that normally happen?

Bump. I was considering my first android phone, since I'm on iOS right now. But if Tango for Android isn't comparable to FaceTime...idk then.

Hello Coolio86,

Video calling is very dependent on the quality of network both you and your partner connected to. Tango offers the convenience of being able to video call over 3G/4G if you are not connected to a WiFI network. However, if you want to experience the best possible quality during video calling, it is always recommended for the both of you to be connected to WiFi. If you are, the quality should be very comparable to using Face time ( some people think its better :) )

In regards to the audio echo issue, this may be something specific to a particular device. May I ask what type of device you were testing it on?

As you may know, developing on Android is a little more complex because of the large amount of different devices. There are many Android devices that work flawlessly with Tango out of the box, but there are also the few that have certain issues (such as audio echo). The good news is that these devices can be fixed with a future update to Tango. We try to get to these issues as fast as we can ;)

Hope I was able to help!

Regards,

I was talking about a demo I saw on YouTube. From what I've seen recently, the HTC Thunderbolt's Skype has the best video calling on an android device.

And I don't know what kind of android phone was using Tango. Maybe an Evo?
