For those that just purchased the Nexus 5 and were worries about the lack of a secure NFC chip for G wallet payments.

Looks like all phones with NFC and KitKat will be able to make payments. Sorry if I'm late to the party.

Was wondering that myself.

I'm hoping the issue before was the ability to get the operators on board. Now that this isn't a requirement hopefully it'll be Google wallet for all.

Also, given the wallet register page that was live for a day (albeit broken) a couple of months ago for registering a UK phone number, I'm hopeful.

I hope this new open architecture for tap and pay truly does open up Google Wallet to be utilized on carriers that were blocking it before. The way it is explained it should do just that but it remains to be seen.
