Android Enthusiast
Alright everyone!
We all know how Android 2.2 manages applications is different than 2.1 Android keeps them on hand just in case we want to use them. Well last night I noticed the warmer the phones gets, the more the phone loses it's ability to retain RAM and perform normal functions. Therefor I am going to by trying a few different things, but... These all require root an 1-3 days of use. Use the video I posted from WwJoshDew in my Custom Recovery and Root 2.2 thread Theres 2 things I will be trying, freezing apps with Titanium Backup so that Android can't load them up until I thaw the apps. Next..

Now this automatically kills apps and with root you can tell the app how much memory must remain free at all times and it's 100% customizable to how much memory you want and what apps you want to actually keep closed. I'm going to do this experiment for 2 days and tell everyone how much memory I kept, if the application i wanted open stayed open, and how much my overall battery life kept. Anyone who wants to join in can do this too! (And suggest different apps to use...?) If you want to join in, just put what method your using and how long you'll be using it before reporting back here and posting your results. Hope a good amount of you join in! Ill post my results in 1-2 days.

I've heard some good things about "Memory Usage Plus" but this app does cost $.99.

I'll be using Autokiller and Memory Usage Plus.

I froze just about 10 apps that are always in system memory for unknown reasons in Titanium Backup Pro and froze them. i now have about 25MB of RAM free at all times. Mission accomplished.

Frozen apps via Titanium Backup

Froyo File Manager
Email 2.2.2
Maps
News and Weather
Pandora
Sound Recorder
Sprint ID
Sprint Tutorial Widgets
Sprint Zone
Task Manager
Voice dialer

Watchdog Lite is my favorite because it monitors and tells when an app takes up too much CPU. Next on my list is the stock task manager

any other methods other than buying titanium backup? the autokiller memory optimizer seemed to crash my phone when it ran out of memory when I installed it
