task killer/manager

Does anyone know if there is a task mgr or killer or something like that will not only kill the apps u do not want running but will stop them altogether from starting up again 5 seconds later and they will only b running when u want them to? I have tried all the ones I could find and some are better then others but none of them keep the apps from starting up again.

Can u tell me why? I am not very tech savvy so I really only know what people tell me or just whatever I have figured out on my own. Also is it better to root ur phone or not? Thanks for the advice, much appreciated.

In short, Android's designed to work this way. Background apps don't use resources unless they're active in the background. Let the OS do its job. Autokilling processes that start back up is a great way to kill your battery.

Also is it better to root ur phone or not?
Better is always subjective, regardless of topic, and rooting is no different in this regard. If you haven't read up on rooting then don't even worry about it. Once you've done some research you can assess for yourself whether it would be beneficial or not. It's not a one-size-fits-all thing.

Do a search for task killers on here, there are HUNDREDS of threads that will tell you why.

If you feel the need to manage what's running, why not just create a shortcut on one of your homescreens to the running services?

Well, I beg to differ. Task mangers can be useful, if you use them in moderation. Fact is, when I had the default gallery app loaded on my phone, it would never end. It would run in the background and drain 40% of my battery in 2 hours. I started killing it with a task manager, and the problem went away.

That being said, I ended up removing the stupid gallery app and installed QuickPic instead. Now I don't see a need for a task manager at all!

Hope this helps your reasoning.
