Task Manager/Active Applications

Is it normal that after you have touched on the world globe to connect to the internet, then back tab to close it after you have finished, then to find that in Task Manager/Active applications that it still shows as being active?

The RAM for the application is sitting at 44.09MB, and the C.P.U is 0.00%

Is this normal so that it loads much faster as I have noticed if I manually close the application in Task Manager and then use the internet explorer again that it refreshes automatically and not from cache.

Apps in the task manager aren't running. Theyre just stored in memory for later use.

I understand what you're saying, but what confuses me is that if I use the Google search application with the white g on a blue background then come out, when I go and check task manager I find it isn't there unlike the globe internet icon, surely both are similar as they both have access to the internet, so my question is why is it different for each?

Just another little thing about the internet on the phone, under settings then advanced settings-----select search engine, I thought I would change this to Yahoo instead of Google, but even after refreshing and deleting the cache when I use the globe internet on the phone it connects to Google and not what I have it set to on those advanced settings, any idea?

Apparently apps on the android once closed down are automatically removed from the active applications under task manager, but I have found two which seem to differ from this.

The first being the internet app, the one with the world globe, and the second being the stock messenger text app, if I click on either of these then close them down, then return to the task manager and then active apps, I see both still sitting there, of course I know I can exit them at that stage, but I just wondered why they do not close from there when I am not using the apps.

I know someone that has a Samsung Galaxy Ace phone whereas I have the Samsung Galaxy Ace II and on their phone the same thing happens with the internet app, but not with their stock messenger app, when I mention this app I refer to the messaging envelope at the bottom of the home screen, so when they come out of that it then doesn't show on their active apps under task manager whereas it does on mine.

Any ideas?

I found a little bit of info on this link below.

It would be most interesting to know how long the lifetime is for both the Internet App and the Stock Messaging App when there is plenty of memory on the phone.

In other words how long it would be before any of the apps disappear from the active apps on Task Manager

I had both on task manager/active apps, I switched off my phone for 10 or so minutes, after switching back on again the active apps had zero showing, so my question is when it mentions on paragraph 5 that the processes are routinely killed as required I wonder how long for each app that would take.

Just to say that the active apps disappeared after a little while, so android does seem to be working as it should.
