Help Task Manager and Email

Just got my new Captivate off of ebay. It's been rooted and is running Doc Gingerborg version 2.2.1. I have two questions:

1) The task manager app is on my phone and I don't know if I need it or if I should uninstall it? Also, if I should keep it, why, and how should I utilize it?

2) It has an email app on it but it doesn't notify me of new emails or show how many I have. I liked the one on my aria and am wondering if I can install that one or if anyone has any recommendations for one that works well and notifies you when you have emails, and keeps you informed of how may you have?

Task manager... not necessary as far as I know. I "froze" it on my phone with no adverse effects.

Email (don't know what's on your Aria) - I like K-9. Not fancy, but it does everything... all my accounts, all the folders in those accounts, fast.

Not sure what's on my Aria but I can probably find out. Thanks for the advice on the email app. Are you familiar with Doc Gingerborg?
