is anyone using this? i added a few things to it that were running (well, they weren't using any cpu, but they were taking up ram) in the background for some reason, like the voicemail app, the motoactv app, and vz navigator. anyone else using this? the good? the bad?

Leave them alone. They do not run, thye are hibernated waiiting to be used and statt faster. No need for any of that on a phone with 1GB RAM

I added the social location app to auto end 2 min after the screen shuts off....but it continues to consume the batt?

Android apps use what are known as "activites". For example, the email app has a "send" activity, if you use a file manager to send a file via email the file manager calls the send activity of an email app, passes the file name to it and the file is sent with the email app.. not the file manager. This will result in seeing the email app running when the user didn't launch it. If the user kills the email app android has to restart it so it can complete the task that the user asked it to complete. If the user continues to kill the email app android will continue to restart it. This results in the user battling the system and wasting resources. For more information on this, please see the last link in my sig.

Don't kill tasks, it's a waste of resources and makes the system work harder than otherwise necessary.
