in sony ericson xperia neo V, i didn't notice a task manager which might help in seeing the usage of ram etc.

can anybody please advise.

You don't really need a task manager in Android, the system manages things quite well on its own. Android is based on Linux, and, in Linux, unused ram is wasted ram.

yes. but in my previous smartphone(samsung galaxy ace). it had an taskmanager to view the usage of ram. is there anyway i can get it by downloading some app?

To view the ram memory usage you can go Menu>Settings>Applications>Running services.
