Task Manager's on v3 / OTA

I apologize in advance. My searching skills are lacking. Here is my issue:

I currently run TasKiller because I find my phone gets SOOO SLOW. I back all the way out of apps but I still have trouble.

Is this still an issue for those with some form of 2.1 or am I doing something wrong? Is there maybe a better way of managing my system resources without killing apps?

I'm running V3 and I have a task killer installed, and the only time I used it was to close an app that did not have a close feature. (I then promptly uninstalled the offending app.) Otherwise, I don't really see a need for a task killer.
