Task Switcher Recommendations

Drogo46

Newbie
Currently to switch running apps I long press the Home button and a limited list pops up.

Is there a better task switcher with more functionality (killing tasks) that you would recommend?

After FroYo (2.2) they are not necessary. If an app is misbehaving or locked up and you need to kill it, you can do so without the aid of another app. If you kill running apps, you can actually corrupt data. It's not likely, but possible. All in all they will do little or nothing beneficial. The most common problem associated with the use of task killers it battery drain.

Thanks for the link! Very informative read. I'm new to the android system so I'm learning as much as I can.

Are "task killers" dangerous in any way, or just not needed?

Android resource management is going to a bit foreign to most people who are new to Android. If you try to manage resources yourself, the effect may be the opposite of what you intended.

Task killers may negatively affect the performance of your phone if you do not understand how Android manages tasks and system resources. You may think you are improving the performance, but in actuality you may be doing the opposite. Unless you have a very specific need for one and understand the effects of a task killer on your phone, I would recommend you not use one.

like others have said.. forget task killers... and things that are in the background.
best just to forget about the background..and let android do its thing.. you just enjoy your toy.

"wave Launcher" is a neat way.. that mimics the WebOS
