tasker itself using a lot of battery

Hi,

I have been using tasker for a few days and it used a lot of battery. I only have a few profiles. One for screen state wifi switch. One for location 3g switch using only net. And one for getting location from net every hour. Android settings shows it's using 12% while where's my droid power shows it's using 23%!
Is this normal or is there a particular batteru eating setting?

Thanks!

I have MANY location-based profiles, but I use "State > Cell Near" for those contexts.
The most battery I have seen Tasker use, was around 3% (and that was when I had it open for hours at a time, testing profiles). It almost never even appears in "battery use", the usage is so low...

I think it's really tasker ITSELF. I deleted all the profiles but left tasker on and after half an hour it's still using just as much battery as before. Wondering why... :?

Hmm... Maybe try clearing the data\cache, then uninstall and reinstall it?

Same here, showed up to 25% use and battery life was significantly shortened. Using Setting Profiles now with reduced expectations and much longer battery life.

I have multitudes of location profiles and Tasker uses less power then almost anything. Learn how to turn things on and off as you need them. That in itself saves power.

What is setting profile?

Tasker wasn't like this before. It was using around 5%. The only major change I made I think was switching the framework-res.apk with the one HERE to permanently change the ua string. btw I have a motorola xoom. I am not sure what framwork-res.apk is for and what setting is contains. Does anyone know?

Stupid question, but did you press apply after deleting everything?

tasker has only used a large amount of power when I've not set up my contexts to be efficient.

So how do you know which contexts are efficient? Seems to me that having to check the state of various things constantly is a real drain.

Setting Profiles is lightweight compared to Tasker but is free of battery issues.

True, so I usually try and pair the more battery heavy ones with another context like date, time, or if another profile is active.

Also using your other tasks to enable/disable your profiles so they're only 'enabled' when they're likely to be used.

There's a certain amount of trail-and-error involved.

Location based profikes in tasker wilk always use a lot of battery
Location based profiles relying on GPS use a lot of battery because the GPS receiver consumes a lot of power. That's why the article "Location Without Tears" exists on the Tasker site.

So how do you know which contexts are efficient?
Experience. Testing. Reading up on Tasker. Power & flexibility are double edged swords.
