Tasker needs landscape

For the last month, whenever I open tasker, it is blank until I rotate my phone to landscape then it is fine. At that point I can turn it back to portrait. I suspect it is a phone problem but thought I would ask on here if anyone agrees or disagrees with it being my phone. I was considering deleting tasker and reinstalling but I dont want to redo my profiles. While I am on quagmires, if I upgrade to a new phone, how many headaches do I have to look forward to?

Thanks for the export/import advice. I am still scratching my head over having to turn the phone to landscape to get my profiles/tasks to populate the screen. I was hoping it was some kind of setting within tasker. I may be a lone wolf with this problem. At any rate, I appreciate the advice on the other quandary.

Can you not just export your tasks and profiles and then import them again? I've always done this when changing phone and causes no trouble. With regards to landscape issue, I can say I don't have this issue with tasker and my phone. Would be worth reinstalling to check.

Well, I unstalled Tasker and reinstalled it. Got all of my profiles and tasks back but I did lose my various Projects which is not a big thing. That having been said, my problem with the screen orientation remains. I went into preferences and looked at Orientation which was user. Changed it to portrait and then I could never get the profiles and tasks to populate, even after rotating to landscape. Fortunately, occasionally a poplated screen would show for a second. I caught it during that second and tapped a profile. At that time Tasker crashed and allowed me to send a report. Next time I came into Tasker, I got in by rotating to landscape. I then changed user orientation back to user from portrait and I am now back to square one, well, almost (projects gone). Any way, to make a short story long, I believe this is a phone issue. Not looking forward to doing everything, not just Tasker, to a new phone, but it looks like I may have to bite the bullet. Thanks for the input.

I could not duplicate your screen orientation problem.

When in Tasker go to the main Project and be on the Profile page. Do not select anything.

Go to Settings | Data | Backup and respond OK.

Now you can see that you can backup and restore everything your way.

(This and the Nova Launcher Prime Backup/Restore has really taken the pain out of doing a Factory Data Reset for me. You of course have to move the backups to a "safe place".)

Thom, that worked beautifully. I am indeed back to square one with projects intact. My main problem has been that I set up my profiles and tasks several months ago. Those all work fine but the problem now is that I haven't used Tasker in a while and it is almost like relearning it. No ones fault but my own. I've learned that Tasker is a ever evolving creature and I really need to keep myself familiarized with it. Though my screen orientation problem still exists, I've learned quite a bit through this, so your assistance has been quite useful. Thank you.

Closure. I continued to tinker after restoring from a backup. Occasionally, Tasker would populate without rotating the screen. I decided to look at apps I had downloaded after I ran a virus scan against all. I decided I no longer found a app called Gas Buddy. Another app, Memory Optimizer was redundant. A third app, Weather Bug, was sluggish and saying loading. Weather Bug had several updates of late so I decided to rid my phone of it. After deleting those 3 apps, Tasker is now populating Profiles/Tasks without rotating the screen. I just wanted to put this can of worms out there in the event some other not so experienced Tasker encounters a similar problem. I appreciate the time, experience and input that Thom and Codesplice spent to help in addressing the problem.
