Tasker newbie question

Just made my first profile to turn my notification volume off at 10 o'clock at night and then back to full at 4:30 in the morning. It works fine. But my question is do I need to leave the profile active all day long or could I just set the from and to values the same (one for from and to 10pm and one from and to 430am) without having the time frame in the profile running all day which seems to eat up my battery

Did some experimenting, and answered my own question. It works by setting the from and to values the same but I'm still not sure if there's any difference in battery drain being that tasker is still running. Anyone know if having a profile active changes the battery drain?

What are the display and sound check boxes for

Hit the ? to get the answer to your question about check boxes.

Leave it running all day. I think you will find the battery drain is VERY low. I have seven profiles that are always running.

WiFi Near
WiFi Far
Boot
Proximity Sensor
Speak incoming SMS message
Silence during scheduled event

The question for you ... if it is not always running ... how do you trigger it to start running and stop running?

Tasker is running, the icon is in my status bar. But it says no active profiles because my time frame has the same from and to values. When the correct time is reached, the volume is either muted or turned to full depending on which time of day it is. I guess since the time frame is the same for from and to values it doesn't show as being active, but it still works when the time is reached. I decided not to use the all day time frame because I really only need the volume to change twice, once at night and once in the morning it really doesn't need to be monitored all day, in case I decide to change it manually for some reason

Back from my meetings ...

You can remove the Tasker notification if you want to. I remove it. (Preferences | Settings | Monitor uncheck Run in Foreground)

Active profile ... it is reporting the number of profiles in Tasker (and not in compiled Tasker APKs) that you have set to On. If you want to manually set them on and off that's your call.

Actually, as shown in screenshots, Tasker says no active profiles but I have two set to "on". I think it says no active profiles because the time frame included in the profile does not include the current time right now

Do what you want, this doesn't low your battery or performance

Agree. There is pretty much no battery penalty from the non-active state of an enabled profile whose only context is time. And you have to leave it enabled...enabling/disabling manually to control the profile would be a waste of your time.
