Tasker - profile to toggle airplane mode

Hi
First and foremost, I am a tasker newbie.
I gave my dad a new smartphone and obviously he has some challenges learning it.
On the UI side, I have installed Wiser which seems to suit him.

The bigger issue that frequently happens is he like to put the phone into airplane mode. Eventhough I have told him countless times not to do it. It ends up in this mode and we cannot call him or he cannot call anyone.

The tasker task should be..

If Airplane mode is pressed to ON... then automatically toggle it back OFF. (i.e. can never be in Airplane mode)
Simple enough.

Other workarounds is to trigger by time.. i..e every hour of the day... Airplane mode off (regarless what the current setting is).

Anybody can help? I have tried to code this, but failed.

I'm no good in Tasker, and wanted to give you a macro in MacroDroid...

alas, it will sense a change in Airplane mode, but it does not offer a way to toggle it.

but, it will sense that and then Display a Text Message of your choice...

TURN AIRPLANE MODE OFF !!!

or, you could have it play a sound..... a recording that you make to tell him Audibly "don't do that, turn off Airplane Mode dad, we can't call you now.

would that help?

* MacroDroid - Device Automation - Android Apps on Google Play

I would also move the Airplane Mode icon to the bottom of the menu stack, so he can't find it w/o a lot of trouble.

Definitely move it OFF of the first row of Notifications... that you can do in 5 seconds, and I suspect cure the problem w/o further ado.

Welcome to Android Forums.

In Tasker you can sense when Airplane mode is selected. You cannot set Airplane mode on or off after Android 4.2 unless you are root-ed and use a Tasker plug-in.

This might coax him to do what you want ...

Hi all,
thanks for the replies. Having text prompt or voice announcements are ok but
I rather have a solid task that prevents it from ever going into airplane mode, this is for sure way.
Heck, my dad sometimes gets confused with the phone ringtones and alarms.
Previously he like to lower the volume to silent - i have found a fix for this instead :).

I am pretty sure i will need the device rooted, but i need help on the tasker toggle script
Help..

For your consideration ...

Your Dad is having problems controlling an un-root-ed phone and it is throwing up roadblocks that are preventing more harm.

If you choose to root that phone then those roadblocks will be removed and all manner of new problems can occur.

My unasked for recommendation is that you never root the phone your Dad is using.

There is of course the usual warning that when you root you are assuming total responsibility for the phone and the warranty from the carrier/manufacturer is void. Anything goes wrong with anything ... you fix it or pay to have it fixed.

Thom,
Understand your points, but my only other option is a true Device Management software (which I am unable to find) which locks down the UI to prevent settings from being changed for example (unless a password is entered).
The issue is the stock Sony Android phone has a shortcut to "Airplane mode" setting when long press the ON/Off button...
I am not sure how to clear this or prevent this other then the tasker that I mentioned above.
I am open to ideas...

Sell the current phone and ...

Buy something non-Android that has no ability to do anything other than receive and make phone calls.

or

Buy an Android phone running 4.1 or older that has no option to ever upgrade to 4.2 or newer and use Tasker to toggle Airplane mode.
