Tasker - Profiles and Airplane mode

Lurker
Hi there,

I've got two questions regarding Tasker for Android, hope someone can point me in the right directions. I'm running an HTC Desire with Android 2.1 (Froyo isn't available in South Africa yet as far as I know). I downloaded the app a couple of days ago and haven't been able to put my phone down since!

The first question is quite simple: are there any useful sites regarding tasker profile creation or resources where pre-made profiles can be downloaded? I've checked the user wiki and the other sites mentioned within Tasker, but they seem fairly limited to certain tasks. I was hoping for a more open forum where users upload their individual profiles step by step which can be tweaked or changed, etc. Any suggestions would be awesome.

Secondly I have a question regarding auto activation of airplane mode. I've managed to set up a profile that automatically activates airplane mode between midnight and 07:30. Sometimes, however, I do some late-night browsing or texting. Up until now I've been using Sweet Dreams to automatically handle my airplane mode. With sweet dreams, I could manually switch off airplane mode, browse, then switch it back on again (via MySettings) and it would still keep it on until the set time, after which it would switch it off. With Tasker however, as soon as I manually deactivate airplane mode and later switch it back on again, it doesn't stick to my set time and keeps airplane mode on regardless of my time setting. Is there a way to bypass this somehow? Some setting that would make it so that if I switch airplane mode off and on manually, it still recognises that it should be switched off again at 07:30?

Thanks in advance.

The Tasker Wiki is open for anyone to post profiles, either step-by-step, with downloadable profiles, or both. There are also quite a few Tasker related threads here that you should check out.

Regarding Airplane Mode - if you're only using a Time context to turn Airplane Mode on/off, it should return to its pre-profile state at the end of the time period, regardless of what you do in the interim, except for turning the device off. If you're using some context other than Time, what are you using?

In the meantime, you can add an exit task to explicitly turn off Airplane Mode at the end of the time period.

Hi UncleMike, thanks for the swift reply. I have set the profile according to a time condition, but it ignored it once I changed it manually. I'll just test it again and see if it keeps doing it. I'll let you know though, otherwise I'll add the exit task as well.

Thanks for the help, I'll keep you posted.

Hi again UncleMike,

I've added the exit task and that seems to have solved the problem. I tested it last night, went online after the auto airplane mode was initiated, turned airplane mode back on, then when I woke up this morning everything was back to normal. I have no idea why it didn't do it beforehand, but it seems to be working now. Thanks so much for the help! I'll most definitely be back in the next while with more Tasker questions, just can't seem to get enough of playing with it!
