how can i set a profile that turns on/off background data at a specified time with autosync??

Have you read the Tasker documentation and looked at the samples on the Tasker site? I'm not saying you'll find a directly applicable example but you really should at least familiarize yourself with Tasker. The profile you're asking about would be very straightforward to create.

IMO you're better served by learning about profiles, contexts, tasks etc versus memorizing steps to create specific profiles.

ok now i can turn on/off autosync . . but how to do so with background data?? i couldn't figure that out!!

Not sure that you can, unless it's been added to Tasker recently.

I searched on Google for "Tasker background data" and got this as the first link:

Note that Pent is the developer of Tasker. When he says you can't, you can take that as the word of God.
