Tasker - turn off Widgetlocker when at home?

Pinmac1

As in the title, I don't see the point of locking my Desire when at home (I trust my family!!) and find it irritating. This means turning Widgetlocker off. I thought that it would be easy to set Tasker up to do this but have been unable to do so. I set a profile called Home Not Lock and have tried with both Wifi near and Wifi Connected inputting my SSID. I then set Task>Kill App and chose Widgetlocker. I then set an Exit Task to restart Widgetlocker when disconnected from my home network.
Please can anyone help me with this? Thanks.

Kill App doesn't work if you have 2.2 or higher. It's a limitation in the system. Android no longer allows Tasker to kill processes.

Aaaah! Thanks for that. I thought I was doing something wrong. Is there any other way I can achieve this?

Cool, didn't know that. I had looked under "Plugin" and didn't see it. Never scrolled down to see "3rd Party" :)

Thanks!

Brilliant!!! :D Had that running within 1 minute of reading your post, Kevin. I then realised that the standard lockscreen kicked in instead :( Found NoLock in the Market and have that switched permanently to lock off. Now Tasker does exactly what I wanted - when at home I can just turn the phone on and when out and about it locks when I switch it off. It's ridiculous how such a tiny thing can bring such satisfaction! Thanks so much!!!

Hi, I

Hi, stopped using NoLock when it occurred to me that the lock screen never kicked in even when I was out of the house which I didn't like. I now just use Tasker to control the lock screen. Simple setup where if I am connected to my home Wifi Widgetlocker is disabled and Keyguard is off with the reverse when not connected to the home Wifi. The only problem now is that my Desire keeps disconnecting from my Wifi randomly but that's another story....

In my motorola defy 2.2 for some reason, this off and on for widgetlocker and keyguard through tasker doesn

Thanks for that -seems like a good plan. Unfortunately I can't get it work. Can you just clarify the input for me please as I've never used IF or ENDIF?

Thanks a lot. Have input that to Tasker (I think) so now I'll wait to see if I get any more Wifi dropouts.

Revisiting an old thread I started as the same old problem has come back. I sorted out the Wifi dropout problem a while ago (can't remember how now!) but I have just wiped my phone to reinstall all my apps and now I can't seem to get the lockscreen to stop kicking in.

I have restored all the Tasker apps as they were so I have the one I described above with Widgetlocker disabled and Keyguard off when connected to Wifi and the reverse when disconnected. It's driving me nuts that the normal lock comes on every single time I turn off the phone and back on but I do want it to come on if I'm not connected to my Wifi.

There was an odd occasion that it didn't work before the reinstall but the Tasker profile worked 99% of the time. I have obviously done something different this time but can't work out what. Does anyone have any ideas please?

I had a similar issue, with mine. I had moved up an Android version or two, and wondered if it was some security "upgrade" that caused it. But with no changes it now seems to be working about 70+% of the time.

It is something I've been meaning to look into but there's less of an itch now it's more reliable. It seems to be that if it works once it's always working, and if the keyguard comes on, that's it until the next time the task get's triggered. I'll try and monitor it and post back here.

I guess this explains why Screen Filter doesn't shut off when I want it too. Anybody have a way to Turn Off an App once it's been Loaded? I'm still real new to Tasker...

Unfortunately Tasker can't kill most apps. It used to be able to but Google changed things in V2.2 which stopped it.

I guess I'll have to forget about Screen Filter, and just try and stick to adjusting the Display Brightness for night and day.

It seemed to be working no problem with widgetlocker turned off, but now it seems to have gone awry after reinstating WL. I think it may be a setup issue, so I'll have a play and see if I can fix it.
