Tea Anyone?

@ olbriar, one of the old neighbors in my neighborhood brewed sassafras beer, it was awesome!! I've heard of using the roots for tea, but I've never tried it. I'll have to find some, and give it a go!! Thanks for bringing up a topic that brought back an awesome memory from my childhood! :)

Now that is a thought... sassafras beer mmmmmm. My cousin's husband enjoys brewing beers and has some going at all times. I'll have to suggest a sassafras brew when I see him over the holidays. Thank you for the idea. I tried one of his batches that was brewed with a black tea as a base. It wasn't bad at all. Not something you would long for but a very pleasant beer.

I have a very good book with a few interesting beer recipies.
The Alaskan bootlegger's bible [Book]

Hot Pepper being the most unusual!

@Roze sorry for going off topic, I'm a beer nut! :D

Today is Stash Ginger Breakfast black tea. Its doing double duty since I had an upset stomach and now I don't.

That's the best :) Tea is just lovely when it helps with your throat or upset stomach.

I am still rocking the Genmaicha :)

This is a helpful thread -- I'm more the coffee type, but since my horizons for tea = earl grey or earl grey, this is helping give some idears :D

I am drinking lady grey today. I also like yerba mate....tomorrow will be some chai.

Today, I'm having Pai Mu Tan White Tea.

I bought a sample of 3 different tea leaves to try and this is one of it. Like all white tea, the taste is very subtle and light. Something to start you off in the morning :) I do feel that there's a bit of green tea leaves mix in with the white as the taste is a bit stronger than other white tea I have. When I look at the leaves, I only see half of the leaves with the white fur buds that white tea is known for.

PAI MU TAN

This tea originated in the Fujian province of China where it is traditionally known as Pai Mu Tan but perhaps more commonly referred to by its literal translation as White Peony. The making of this classic White Tea dates back to ancient Chinese traditions where the tea buds are collected from a special variety of bush called Narcissus, dried in the sun and withered prior to opening. The especially fine and fresh aromatic nature of Pai Mu Tan along with its soft, mild and flowery flavour makes it an ideal starter tea.

Hate tea. My fiance on the other hand...

There's a guy in the UK who if you furnish him with personality traits etc, will create you a custom blend. Made a good Christmas present..

You are SO unBrit there, Dan :P

What did you say for her personality and did she like her personalized tea?

So who here is a big tea fan? My friends call me a tea snob because I only drink tea from tea leaves. There are only some tea bags that I will drink. Mostly the Tazo Tea brand from Starbucks.

I was recently reading about proper Tea Time Etiquette; when to serve tea, how to serve tea, and what one never does and must always do at High Tea.

Too much work, but I might try to hookup with a few proper English wimmen and experience a proper tea time.

I went to high tea at a 4 stars hotel. Had I known that the cost of high tea is the same as a delicious steak at a steak house, I wouldn't have gone.

Steak>Tea. Sorry. I love tea but it's not in the same league with steak. Now if you could brew up a KC strip... that would be something.

Back on track here.... Has anyone used one of those electric tea machines? I don't quite understand how they work or why they command such a high price. Are they any good? Special? ...or just a good ol American gimmick to sell me something I don't really need?

It wasn't just her personality though.

I essentially said she was tall, kind, gentle, quiet and likes earl grey.

She did like her blend yes :)

The tea in the specialty container that you put in and you get your tea?

So it's something earl grey :) So did he tell you what he use for tall, kind, gentle and quiet? :)

Today I am having a ginger green tea. The tea leaves smell absolutely delightful with a strong sweet ginger aroma. So guess how disappointed I was when I realized that the smell did not translate to the flavour. It's a good tea, but you care barely taste the sweet ginger in it :(

Ginger Green is a balanced combination of Green Sencha, ginger bits and sunflower petals. This flavoured tea allows the benefits and flavour of ginger to be perfectly combined with those of Green Tea. Those who appreciate the characteristics of ginger will enjoy this tea day or night.

This tea gets a 7 for being a good green tea but not a good ginger green tea. I am back on my quest to find the perfect ginger green tea!!!

I have a ginger black tea that's delicious. Although for tea people its probably not the same cause its in a tea bag. :D

Tea bags ain't bad, it's just not fresh. So, it depends on the quality of the tea in the bag. The Lipton Pyramid line is pretty good and I love the Starbuck Tazo tea :) Both are 'fresh' tea leaves bagged. lol Tazo tea is kind of pricy now and cost more than most 50g bag of lose leafs tea. I rather go with something more fresh ;)

I actually have organic tea bags that I use to bag my tea :) The thing about tea bags is the convenient of carrying the tea with you. Lose leaves = messy, lol.

Tea bags are great! Using leaves isnt really practical in the morning when you are rushing, or in the evening after a hectic day at school/work/training session. I find pyramid bags diffuse better, though that may be all the marketing giving a placebo effect ;)

My tea time is a calming ritual for me. I make my tea when I get into work though, so I'm not rushed at all lol.

I think pyramid tea bags diffuse better because of the surface area of the bag. :) They are also pretty to look at, lol.

So it's something earl grey :) So did he tell you what he use for tall, kind, gentle and quiet? :)

D'ya know I can't remember. I shall have a look.

He has the blend on record so we can re-order at a cheaper price :)
