What do you guys think of this processor? I've heard some bad things so I am concerned about purchasing a tablet for 399 with this processor.

If you want to get a tablet today, a tablet with the Tegra2 is the only tablet I would consider buying. Everything else is just sub par for tablets.
Or, if you rather wait, the Tegra3s and the Exynos processors start rolling out next year.
Yeah, Tegra 2 is the best of a bad bunch to be honest.
It can barely cope even with some of the Tegra Zone games, try Riptide GP with resolution setting maxed and Galaxy On Fire 2. They lag like crazy.![]()
My Acer Iconia A500 handles GOF2 easily enough.
I also don't experience much in the way of lag at all on the tablet. Some UI quirks here and there, but I was surprised. I expected worse given what the benchmarks of phones had showed what the Tegra2 was(n't) capable of. I guess the other pieces of the tablet sorely lack to cause the lag.
I currently have the htc flyer and the samsung galaxy 8.9. eventhough the galaxy is slightly more laggy i think the 8.9 feels like the perfect size. The newer tabs with the tegra 3 processors and a little too pricey at the moment. I paid 399 for the 8.9 tab.
Well the Flyer uses the Sense interface, a slightly faster CPU however it's single core well Tegra 2 is dual core and runs a lower resolution. Thigreats altogether probably make the inferface a smoother.
But Tegra 2 is the better SoC, unfortunately it's let down by honeycomb with regards to the speed of the interface, but for games Tegra 2 tablets will perform better than the flyer.
