my phone is a Droidx.
when i press,saythe gmail icon,it goes tom gmail for a split second then back to main screen. Ive tried taking the battery out numerous times ,it will work for a minute or so then nothing.Any ideas

Have you tried clearing the cache via the applications menu? Settings -> Applications -> Manage Applications -> All -> Gmail -> Clear Cache.
