Telemarketer Calls, e-mail

Can any one tell me how to block telemarketer calls from my Net10 Samsung Galaxy Proclaim. I am all of a sudden getting telemarketer calls. I got 3 today from a scam I think also from a person wanting to buy my house. I set up my g-mail and now my address book from my computer is now sync with my cell phone I do not want that. How do I delete it? Also how do I keep the phone from automatically downloading my e-mails when I turn the phone on, I don't mind it downloading the e-mail or g-mail when I want to recover it but not when I turn the phone on. Also how do I select a bunch of e-mail to delete them instead of one at a time.
Thanks

I just tried to follow some directions I found with google to limit which contacts showed up on my phone. It involved putting them in another group then removing that group from My Contacts. Well, I couldn't get it to work, lol. It's a shame too, I could use that feature myself.

You do not have to have your phone sync contacts with gmail at all. If you go to settings and accounts and sync and press on Google, then press on where it shows your account. You can select not to sync various google products. You can just have what contacts you want on your phone in it's contact app, called people. It should allow you to choose if you want to just put it on your phone.

I am not sure how to get the contacts already on there off though. I don't know if they will go away when you choose not to sync them or if you will have to use menu/remove to take the whole account off the phone to get them off and start over.

You could also deselect gmail from syncing and I think you could then just sync from within gmail itself. I don't believe you would ever get your gmail till you did though. It will wait till you tell it you want it to check. That might not be such a good thing?

Hope this helps. This is a learning thing for me, right here too, so I am open for suggestions or corrections. :)

Oh, and to delete a bunch of email, I would use a browser, either on the phone and log into gmail or from a pc.

Thank You I will try that. The battery is now dead. I can't believe that. All I have tried to do is set the phone up. I guess I will buy a 2400mAh Extended Battery. either that or I will hook it to a portable generator and keep it running :eviltongue:

Thanks

Yeah, I was surprised how quickly the battery depletes, as well. I have a different phone than you though.

It seems to me that it helps to be on wifi when I can, or turn it off if I'm not on it. I don't know what sort of signal your locale has, but poor signal is killer too.

If you can stand the screen not being so bright, turn it down, that helps.

If you don't need the gps on, turn it off till you do, or get apps like Tasker and Secure settings and have them make it do it itself.

I have an extended battery for one phone, it really makes a difference.

Of course, if you are constantly messing with it, as SOME of us do, keep a charger near by or have extra batteries. Or both. :p

If you're not too familiar with how to change your phone settings, I strongly suggest you contact your telephone company instead and have them block the phone numbers. You can give them all the numbers at once and all their calls will be filtered from coming through.
