Help Terrible WiFi performance after JB update

Do you think it'll be worth sending the phone into the HTC Service centre? I just don't want to go through all the hassle and ending up with what i stated with

Apparently there is a bug in JB that breaks WiFi. I've seen complaints from a variety of phones. In my case, my phone could only see half as many routers after the update. More unfortunately, one of my routers was now invisible most of the time. Not long after, my phone died. It was replaced with a refurbished phone that had JB installed from scratch. It had the same problem. A third phone also had the same problem. This is why I don't think resetting the phone will help at all.

People recommended resetting, but obviously that wouldn't help. People recommend updating the router firmware, but that isn't an option. People recommended buying a new router, but how would I know if the new router is one of the ones that it likes? After a bunch of experimenting, I have found that my router can be seen and connected to sometimes when the router is forced to use channel 1. When it works, it works fine. Unfortunately, it will randomly disappear and no longer work. The same router always worked fine with ICS. It also works fine with all the other devices I connect to it. It is more likely to work with my HTC One X late at night (less interference?)

This is my theory. I think that the JB update made the WiFi too fussy about something when it sees/connects. If it is true that it is mostly older routers that no longer work, that would fit.

Whatever it is, I really wish someone would come up with a real fix.

P.S. I should have mentioned that the WiFi works fine with my other router (and others.)
