Test message Notification

Is there a way of making the screen flash up with a text message notification if the screen itself is currently turned off? Currently, if a message comes through I dont see the message has been sent until I turn the screen back on.

Handcent can do this. Not sure about the stock Messaging app though.

Dread is correct, you'll need to go with a 3rd Party app for this. Handcent or GoSMS will do it, but if you don't want to replace the stock messaging app completely, go with SMS enhancer or SMS Popup.

What is SMS enhancer or popup, a separate app?

Yep, they just handle notifications and other little tweaks, they're not standalone messaging apps.

My text notifications stopped working today using the stock app. No LED, no notification bar alert/popup etc. I'd prefer to use the stock app over Handcent or GoSMS. I just like it better. Tried SMS Enhancer and even with that I'm not getting notifications - I've hit the 'test notification' button in the app settings and it seems to work fine but nothing comes up when I get a txt. Any other advice or help anyone can provide for this issue? It's hard to believe that something as simple as text messaging/notifications is an issue these days...
