Apps Test SMS app in real device

Hi. I am learning how to do the text messaging app in android. i created test app. with an edit text and button and wrote the code to send sms. i could test it with 2 emulator. and the message sent successfully. but i need it to test on real device. In emulator we are giving emulator id as the phone number. what should we do if in the case of real device. please help me
